WHY WILL I MARCH TO THE PALACE? WHEN, FROM WHERE, and HOW?
I’ll try to write without beating around the bush too much. Even so, it will be a long text, because there are millions of reasons to march on the palace.
Perhaps I should write an article titled “Why don’t you march on the palace?”. In fact, why don’t you march on the palace?
I will march. Why?
1- Because that’s what needs to be done.
2- Because those who have power and authority know what needs to be done, but they don’t do it.
3- Because there is no time to wait until having the position and power to do what need to be done.
As Martin Luther King Jr. said:
“It’s always the right time to do the right thing.”
Why will I march?
Because I feel that neither Cemal Enginyurt, who shouted on television, “We must march on the palace with a million people” [1] nor Özgür Özel, who shouted in the squares, “If they bother us too much, we will gather together so as not to disperse” [2] will do what they say.
Because back in the day, I felt something similar for Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, and I wasn’t wrong about my feelings.
Why will I march?
Because I know that the members of parliament from the CHP who have marched to the Ministry of National Education, the Ministry of Justice, and the TRT will do nothing more, and even though some say, “When the time comes, they will do something” I know that time will never come.
As Martin Luther King Jr. said:
“It’s always the right time to do the right thing.”
And what did Özgür Özel say at the RALLY he organized in Trabzon on July 19, 2025?
“We decide when and where we will meet. We decide when we will disperse. If they bother us too much, we will gather together so as not to disperse. Because we are not holding a rally, we are taking action.“
He came up with the last sentence during the March 19 proceedings, in response to people shouting: “We don’t want a rally, we want action”: “We are not holding a rally, we are taking action.”
If what they are doing is not a rally, I ask them: What is a rally, and what is it like?
I ask you: Does it not occur to Özgür Özel, defender of the people oppressed under the tax burden, to call for a fuel boycott?
And he says,“If they bother us too much, we will gather together so as not to disperse“.
I ask you: What else has to happen for people to feel bothered in this country?
What did I say? I will march on the palace.
Within the framework of the right to resist an illegitimate government, in a nonviolent manner, contrary to the law but in accordance with justice, entirely moral [3] and perhaps alone.
I’m not going to explain to anyone why power is illegitimate. The reasons are countless. To give an example, I suppose everyone remembers the date April 16, 2017.[4]
I will march on the palace.
Three days after April 16, on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 14:00, from Kızılay Square.
With a sign in my hand that says “Illegitimate constitution, illegitimate president,” without asking anyone’s permission, without consulting the “illegitimate governor of the illegitimate president.”
Because I’m not going to hold a rally, I’m going to take action!
Because in this country, bridges, highways, drones, armed drones, and aircraft carriers are being built, but it is not justice that reigns, but oppression.
If oppression reigns in the country and its source is obvious, what is the point of marching to other places?
I will not march to another place; I will march to the palace.
Not because I am someone special or want to be, but because in a country ruled by hundreds of general presidents, thousands of presidents, and countless other political structures, none of them have done so.
Let them go ahead, let them lead the way. I am willing to stay behind. I don’t want to waste my youth. But let’s make one thing clear: we will not march to another place, we will march on the palace!
Within the framework of the right to resist an illegitimate government, in a non-violent manner, contrary to the law but in accordance with the rights, totally moral. Without asking anyone’s permission, without consulting the “illegitimate governor of the illegitimate president.”
Don’t say you haven’t heard. Even if no one comes, I will march on the palace!
Because in this country, it is not justice that reigns, but oppression.
I will not explain to anyone why there is oppression in this country. The reasons are countless. Those who see, see; those who don’t see, won’t see.
I’m not going to try to convince anyone. This article is not intended to convince anyone; it is an announcement addressed to YOU, and it has the potential to easily reach millions of people.
Do you know who else it reaches besides you? I will list SOME of those you may recognize so that you can understand its potential.
Ahmet Saltık, Arslan Bulut, Banu Avar, Barış Pehlivan, Barış Terkoğlu, Can Ataklı, Can Uğur, Cemal Enginyurt, Çağdaş Bayraktar, Deniz Yavuzyılmaz, Erdem Atay, Erinç Sağkan, Fatih Yaşlı, Fikret Bila, İsmail Arı, Kadem Özbay, Mehmet Ali Güller, Murat Ağırel, Mustafa Köroğlu, Namık Koçak, Nasuh Mahruki, Oğuz Oyan, Orkun Özeller, Örsan K. Öymen, Özgür Özel, R. İhsan Eliaçık, Rifat Serdaroğlu, Salim Şen, Sibel Suiçmez, Şule Aydın, Timur Soykan, Türker Ertürk, Umut Akdoğan, Yılmaz Özdil, Zafer Arapkirli, and if your name does not appear above, YOU…
And before I wrap up, I’m going to quote two phrases, the first from Martin Luther King Jr. and the second attributed to George Orwell:
“In the end, we will not remember the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.”
“Journalism consists of publishing news that some people do not want to be published. The rest is public relations.”
Friends, journalists,
Support, share, spread the word, write, inform, and COME!
Leave your fears and excuses behind, and embrace courage and reason!
I will do that and march on to the palace.
Within the framework of the right to resist an illegitimate power, in a non-violent manner, contrary to the law but in accordance with justice, totally moral, perhaps alone, perhaps with you.
