Dear colleagues,
My name is Beranger Houlonon, I’m from Benin, and I represent a student organization called the National Union of Schools and Students of Benin. I sincerely thank the initiators, and to be brief, I believe the International Students‘ Council should aim to defend student causes, such as promoting social justice, improving student living conditions, and defending student interests. Our organization should be the voice of all students around the world. Regarding the type of representation and decision-making mechanism, I propose student representatives on student councils and the organization’s decision-making bodies. This ensures that the voices of students from each country are heard and their needs are taken into account. The election of student representatives to student councils and the institution’s decision-making bodies ensures that students‘ voices are heard and their needs are taken into account. For the communication mechanism, let’s consider establishing an online platform or forums where students can interact, share information, and find support. As a candidate for joining the council, I believe any serious organization fighting for student causes that is not politically motivated is welcome. Finally, we must consider ways we can find financial resources in addition to the human and material resources currently available. It is very important that we organize ourselves so that there are, even if it’s onlyonce a year, international meetings between the organizations that initiated the council to make important decisions regarding the ongoing development of our organization, even if we currently do not have the financial resources that could bring us together in a specific country.
